Morant with ‘minor little tweak’ in Grizzlies preseason win

DALLAS — Ja Morant was injured in the Grizzlies preseason opener Monday night in Dallas.

That’s the bad news.

Yes, there is good news.

Turning his ankle in the second quarter, Morant would return to the game, finishing as one of seven Grizzlies in double figures with 13 points as the Grizzlies knocked off the Mavericks 121-116.

Morant would check himself out of the game in the third quarter but said postgame “I’m good. It’s the preseason, man.”

Brandon Clarke led Memphis with 17 points. Desmond Bane had 11.

Rookie Zach Edey battled through some early foul trouble to finish with six points, seven rebounds and a block.

The Grizzlies host Charlotte in their preseason hone opener on Thursday night.
