    $50k in electronics taken in Midtown GameStop smash-and-grab

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. –Police are looking for up to 15 people who broke into a Midtown GameStop and left with over $50,000 worth of gaming equipment.

    It’s at least the fourth time in less than two years that thieves have targeted the Union Avenue store.

    Investigators said the smash-and-grab early Tuesday morning was captured on camera and showed multiple suspects dressed in all black stealing the merchandise.

    Among the items taken are 82 Playstation 5 consoles worth $45,200, Five Xbox Series X consoles valued at $3,000, and seven Nintendo Switch Mario Kart bundles worth $2,700.

    Wednesday afternoon the GameStop store was still closed for business.

    In January, two men broke into the same store in the middle of the night and took around $15,000 worth of items. A mon th earlier, thieves drove their vehicle through a security gate and took a $500 PlayStation 5.

    I n February of 2023, several individuals also burglarized the Union Avenue GameStop and took several video games and controllers. It was one of three Memphis GameStop stores hit in less than a week.
