On October 4, officers responded to a shooting call at Mount Moriah and Sea Isle, where the victim told police he was shot at after being involved in a road rage incident with the driver of a black Ford with red rear panels.

The victim claimed the driver of the Ford tried to cut him off in traffic but was unable to.

He said the driver followed him down Mendenhall, past Poplar Avenue, and onto Mount Moriah Road. The victim told police that when the Ford turned westbound onto Hampshire Avenue, the driver rolled his window down and fired between four and five shots at him.

One of the gunshots hit the rear tire of the victim’s car, according to an affidavit.

The victim gave police front and back dashcam footage from his car, which reportedly showed the suspect “aggressively following” the victim down Mendenhall and firing multiple shots at his car. He identified Serjio Rivas-Rodriguez in a six-person photo lineup as the man responsible for the shooting.

Rivas-Rodriguez is being held on a $150,000 bond.

He made his first appearance in court on Thursday morning and informed the judge that he would not be able to make bond or pay for an attorney.

He is scheduled to appear back in court on Friday morning for a bail review hearing.
