NASCAR takes on the ‘Roval’ this weekend

NEXSTAR) – NASCAR returns to the “Roval” next weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The 2.28-mile course with 17 turns is a Cup Series playoff elimination race.  The course has been reconfigured, so drivers have more opportunities for passing.

After the course’s fifth turn, which is on the backstretch near the traditional Turn 2 cars will continue straight now instead of making a quick right turn.

Ricky Stenhouse, Jr is looking forward to it. “You come off a win and you are always looking to get back on the racetrack.  The Roval has a few new corners that we are gonna find out what they’re like and have a lot of fun.”

Ross Chastain says he’s growing.  “It’s evolving for me. I’m not doing the same things I did six months ago.  Definitely not a year ago.”

The final leg of the Round of 12 gets underway Sunday afternoon.  The Cup playoff field will be cut from 12 to eight drivers after the race.
