MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was arrested after police say he shot a 15-year-old girl and kidnapped her at gunpoint at a Fox Meadows apartment complex on Wednesday.

Voshaun Crayton, 27, was taken into custody and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Kidnapping, and Reckless Endangerment with a deadly weapon.

According to an affidavit, the teenage girl and her female friend were driving a 2013 Ford Fusion, which they claimed to have borrowed from their friend’s boyfriend, through the Hickory Point Apartment complex when Crayton blocked them in with his car.

He allegedly exited his car, pointed a gun at them, and said, “Get out the car before I shoot y’all both in the head.”

Reports say Crayton fired one shot into the air and another into the car, which struck the 15-year-old girl in the hip.

The older woman got out of the car and ran through the apartment complex, while Crayton allegedly forced the 15-year-old girl out of the car at gunpoint. Memphis Police say Crayton made her walk through the apartment complex to help him find his phone and the victim’s friend she borrowed the car from.

The victim told police that while walking through the complex, Crayton continued firing shots and showing her the gun. He eventually walked her back to the Ford Fusion.

Crayton then left her in the parking lot injured and drove off in the car, police say.

The victim was taken to Le Bonheur for treatment.

The Ford Fusion was reported stolen and the 15-year-old girl identified Crayton in a photo line-up as the person who shot her, kidnapped her, and left her injured. Both of the victims reportedly told police they were unaware of why they were assaulted.

Crayton’s bond has not been set.
