On October 4 at approximately 7:24 p.m., officers responded to a business robbery at Metro by T-Mobile, located in the 4000 block of Elvis Presley Road.

When they arrived, they spoke with a store employee who told them that the store had been robbed at gunpoint by a lone male suspect.

The employee said the suspect entered the business and asked about buying a phone.

According to the police report, the employee was suspicious of the suspect, told him that the store was about to close and suggested he come back in the morning.

The employee said that the suspect left the business and then returned with a silver and black handgun.

The suspect allegedly pointed the gun at the employee and demanded that he go to the back room.

The employee opened up the safe in the back room and the suspect loaded up a box full of phones and tablets, valued at $12,825.23.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot.

During the investigation, Maurice Harris developed as a suspect in this case.

On October 10, the store employee was shown a six-person photographic display and he positively identified Harris as the person responsible for robbing the store.

The next day, officers located Harris and took him into custody without incident. During a search of his person during the arrest, officers located a silver/black .9mm handgun in Harris’ left pocket.

Harris also had an aggravated robbery warrant for his arrest issued by the Brownsville Police Department.
