2 dead, 1 injured after Whitehaven shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A shooting in Whitehaven early Thursday morning left two people dead and one injured, Memphis Police say.

According to reports, officers responded to the shooting at the Gospel Gardens Apartments in the 4700 block of Haven Court just after 12:30 a.m. A woman and man were taken to Regional One in critical condition and another man was pronounced dead on the scene.

The man taken to the hospital was later pronounced dead. Police say he was determined to be the suspect in the incident.

MPD previously said preliminary information showed this was a domestic violence situation. Another man on the scene, identified as 39-year-old Jamarus Wilson, was arrested and charged with Tampering with/Fabricating Evidence.

Wilson’s bond has not been set.

A man answered the apartment door near where the shooting took place. He identified himself as the brother of a 32-year-old man who did not survive, leaving behind a 3-year-old daughter.

The identities of the two men who died have not been released. We also tried calling the office at Gospel Gardens Apartments but we were hung up on.

The investigation is ongoing.
