Morant shines as the Grizzlies preseason ends with a loss to Miami

MEMPHIS — It was one final dress rehearsal for the Grizzlies on Friday but despite a near triple-double from Ja Morant, the Miami Heat knocked off the Grizz, 114-109.

Out the better part of three weeks with an injured ankle, Morant looked ready for the season to begin, scoring 17 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists in just 25 minutes.

Desmond Bane and Santi Aldama, who got the start for the injured Jaren Jackson Jr., both scored 19 points in the preseason finale for the Grizzlies.

Jackson is expected to play on Wednesday night when the Grizzlies tip off the 2024-25 season in Utah against the Jazz. Jackson has missed the entire preseason after straining his hamstring on day one of training camp.
