    MPD: Gun jams as woman attempts to shoot boyfriend

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is facing an assault charge after Memphis Police say she hit her boyfriend in the head with a handgun and attempted to shoot him.

    Following an altercation with his girlfriend, Patty Williams, on Saturday afternoon, the victim made the following statement to officers:

    The victim said he and Williams were involved in a verbal argument that escalated to her snatching his phone out of his hand and him taking the phone back.

    The victim said that when he tried to leave the residence, Williams armed herself with a silver handgun and pointed it at him.

    Williams allegedly fired the gun but it did not go off.

    MPD: Man shoots at ex-girlfriend as she tries to flee

    The victim tried to get leave again but Williams allegedly hit him in the back of his head with a handgun, which caused a large laceration.

    The victim was taken to Regional One where his condition was upgraded to critical.

    Williams was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.
