Tony Khan: I Don’t Think Contract Tampering From WWE Has Stopped

Tony Khan doesn’t think WWE tampering with contracted AEW talent has stopped.

In October 2023, AEW CEO Tony Khan took to Twitter and said that he had wrestlers come to him, claiming that WWE tried to get them to break their contracts .

“This weekend marks 1 year since @MayoClinic saved my mom’s life. During her ordeal many AEW talent came to me alleging WWE tampering, inducing them to break their contracts. I’ll never forget these phone calls at her side in the hospital; it’s when business became personal for me. This is nothing new, I mentioned it last year after she came home. It’s relevant today because she checked in for surgery 1 year ago today. As I’ve mentioned several times since, @MayoClinic are heroes and thanks to them, her recovery from a very grim outlook has been a miracle,” Tony Khan said in a series of posts .

Tony Khan recently appeared on The Dan LeBatard Show , and he was asked whether he thought the contract tampering had gotten better since his comments. (H/t Jeremy Lambert of Fightful for the transcription)

“I don’t think that it has,” Tony Khan said. “It’s still happening. I will reserve all rights when it comes to that, but I don’t think that it’s stopped. I’ll leave it at that.

This comes amid some controversy involving The Lucha Bros; as reported by Fightful Select , sources close to the duo said that they have claimed they have had talks with WWE, and they even said that they had an offer.
