STARDOM 5STAR Grand Prix Semi-finalists Confirmed

Following the quarterfinals at Shinjuku FACE, the field for the semi-final competitors in STARDOM’s 5 Star Grand Prix are now set. The quarterfinals marked the 5 Star Grand Prix’s transition from a round robin to a single elimination format featuring the top two competitors per block. Qualifying matches also took place prior to the quarterfinals to break ties within blocks.

The full results of the 5 Star Grand Prix quarterfinals are as follows:

• Red Stars B Tie-Breaker Match: AZM def. Tomoka Inaba & Mei Seira
• Blue Stars B Tie-Breaker Match: Hanan def. Suzu Suzuki
• Tam Nakano & Hina def. Natsuko Tora & Rina (H.A.T.E.)
• 5 Star Grand Prix Quarterfinals Match: Mayu Iwatani def. Natsupoi
• 5 Star Grand Prix Quarterfinals Match: Saya Kamitani def. Starlight Kid
• 5 Star Grand Prix Quarterfinals Match: Hanan def. Syuri
• 5 Star Grand Prix Quarterfinals Match: Maika def. AZM

With that, Maika, Mayu Iwatani, Hanan, and Saya Kamitani are now headed into the semi-finals of this year’s tournament. Out of the four semi-finalists, Mayu Iwatani is the only competitor to have won the tournament back in 2018. Maika , however, also looks to redeem herself after coming up short against last year’s winner Suzu Suzuki in the finals. The “Phenex Queen” Saya Kamitani , on the other hand, aims to bounce back after suffering an injury in last year’s 5 Star opening night which took her out of the competition. Hanan also previously won the Cinderella Tournament earlier this March and has been on a roll throughout this year. She picked up a big upset win over former World of Stardom Champion Syuri in the tournament.

STARDOM 5 Star Grand Prix Finals

The final night of this year’s STARDOM 5 Star Grand Prix will take place this Saturday, August 31, live from the Musashino Forest Sport Plaza Main Arena in Tokyo. Both semi-final and final rounds will occur at this show to crown a grand winner at the end of the night.
