    Hiroshi Tanahashi and Tomohiro Ishii have earned a shot at the gold.

    At NJPW Capital Collision , Hiroshi Tanahashi and Tomohiro Ishii defeated the Grizzled Young Veterans and TMDK (Bad Dude Tito and Robbie Eagles) to earn a shot at the NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championship. Tanahashi scored the win for his team with the High Fly Flow.

    TMDK (Mikey Nicholls and Shane Haste) are the reigning NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Champions. They won the titles by beating Bullet Club and Bishamon at NJPW Dominion. They are set to defend the titles against Virus and Hechicero at Capital Collision.

    Update: TMDK defeated Virus and Hechicero to retain their titles later in the show. After the match, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Tomohiro Ishii confronted them and challenged the champions to a match at NJPW Royal Quest IV.
