WWE SmackDown Preview For October 4: AJ Styles Returns, Tag Team Title Ladder Match

It’s almost time for WWE SmackDown !

WWE returns to Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena for the final SmackDown before Bad Blood. Cody Rhodes, Nia Jax, LA Knight, Tiffany Stratton, Kevin Owens, and Bianca Belair are advertised to appear. AJ Styles is also set to return to SmackDown for the first time in several months.

Here’s what’s on tap for the October 4, 2024, episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

Naomi vs. Tiffany Stratton on WWE SmackDown

Tiffany Stratton thought she could get away with the embarrassment she caused Naomi for losing the WWE Women’s Championship contendership match to Bayley. Tonight, Ms. Money in the Bank takes on The Glow in singles action.

Chelsea Green vs. Michin in a Dumpster Match

Michin outsmarted Chelsea Green and Piper Niven despite their best attempt to put her in a dumpster previously on SmackDown. Now, their rivalry will reach a whole new level in a Dumpster Match on the blue brand.

AJ Styles returns to WWE SmackDown

AJ Styles was last seen on SmackDown in June during his title program with Cody Rhodes. Styles took a hiatus from television after losing an “I Quit” match at Clash At The Castle in Scotland.

The Bloodline (c) vs. #DIY vs. The Street Profits – WWE Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Ladder Match

Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa will defend their tag team gold against both #DIY and The Street Profits in a triple threat ladder match.

Tama and Jacob Fatu originally beat #DIY for the titles on 8/2 SmackDown. However, Solo Sikoa told Fatu to relinquish his share of the title to Tonga Loa three weeks later.

Will Roman Reigns appear on 10/4 SmackDown?

Roman Reigns last appeared in person on the season premiere of WWE SmackDown on USA. The OTC saved Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes from The Bloodline’s assault. Both men put pen to paper for their tag team match against The Bloodline at Bad Blood later that night.

Cody and Roman appeared in a video package shot at Georgia Tech on September 20, 2024 episode of SmackDown. Roman agreed to have Cody’s back at Bad Blood, but said the American Nightmare was in his way in life.
