The Undertaker: Wrestlers Don’t Protect The Magic, There’s No Pride In The Industry Today

The Undertaker thinks that wrestlers today don’t have the same pride in the wrestling business as before.

The WWE Hall of Famer was infamous in his career for staying in character far more than any other pro wrestling superstars. He would only wear black, rarely do interviews and generally portray “The Undertaker” whenever out in public. He embodied the Deadman character, and his commitment paid dividends. The Undertaker was pushed as a top star for three decades, and has gone down as one of the all-time greats in the WWE.

Due to this dedication, The Undertaker became a legend in the eyes of the fans. However, he feels that the current-day wrestlers don’t have the same dedication to the craft and the wrestling business as he did.

During a recent episode of his Six Feet Under podcast , The Undertaker revealed that current wrestlers don’t take pride in the business the way previous generations did. Speaking with his special guest, Booker T, on his unscripted, non-kayfabe podcast, The Deadman accused the current generation of not protecting the magic of the wrestling business.

“There is such a concerted effort to let everyone know what it is that we do.” The Undertaker said [H/T Fightful ]. “‘We try to protect the magic.’ No we don’t. It’s wide open. There is no pride in the industry and what it is. They don’t have the same kind of pride. Yes, they are great performers, they can do great things, they are more athletic than we ever were. That’s great. There are some, but overall, the majority, they don’t have the pride of being a professional wrestler.”
