Welcome to the latest edition of our weekly WWE NXT hits and misses series.

Last night’s episode of NXT aired from the Capitol Wrestling Center (aka WWE PC) in Florida. Featured superstars included Trick Williams, Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer, Ethan Page, and more.

Here’s what went down on the October 15 episode of NXT.

    Hit – Stephanie Vaquer’s in-ring debut

Stephanie Vaquer made her in-ring debut against Wren Sinclair. Sinclair did a solid job with her offense, but Stephanie proved to be better. Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade attacked the former CMLL star following her win, but Giulia made the save to set up a tag team match for WWE NXT Halloween Havoc.

Wren Sinclair did a good job as Stephanie’s first opponent in NXT. All signs from last week pointed towards an attack by Roxanne and Cora. Stephanie and Giulia working together looks promising for NXT women’s tag division. That said, this partnership will presumably only last until Halloween Havoc.

Miss – Gentleman’s Duel on WWE NXT

Lexis King took on Oro Mensah in a Gentleman’s Duel. Vic Joseph explains the rules before the match. Mensah brought the fight to King, but the real-life Brian Pillman Jr. got a prawn hold for the three count.

NXT is probably the only show where you can announce new match-ups with all the different rules. This match was okay at best. It didn’t work for me. The Lexis King gimmick works best when he’s a heel. Is he a tweener or a babyface? I can’t tell.

    Hit – Andre Chase returns

Ridge Holland squared off against Riley Osborne. Holland picked up the win following the 187. He tried to take out Osborne with his finisher on the broadcast table. Andre Chase returned to make the save for his pupil.

Andre Chase is back, and he’s pissed. Holland put Chase and Duke Hudson on the shelf months ago. Chase versus Holland seems to be the direction for Halloween Havoc. Let’s see how this feud builds up.

Miss – Brooks Jensen vs. Ashante Adonis

Jensen and Adonis collided in singles competition. Jensen picked up the win after Karmen Petrovic caused a distraction for Adonis.

There’s not much to say about the match. The angle that came out would probably lead to a pairing between Adonis and Petrovic.

Hit – WWE NXT triple threat main event

The main event of NXT saw Ethan Page, Je’Von Evans and Wes Lee collide for a shot at the NXT Championship. All three men went on all out in their attempt to earn a shot at the brand’s richest prize. Page picked up a sneak win and called out Williams after the match. He spun the wheel to determine their match stipulation before flattening the champion with a cheap shot.

Match of the night without a doubt. Ethan held his own against two of the very best NXT has to offer. Je’Von Evans came so close to picking up the win on numerous occasions. His time will come. Wes Lee was in perfect sync with his two opponents. Page winning the match was bound to happen because he’s some unfinished business with NXT Champion Trick Williams.

    Honorable Mentions

    • Tony D’Angelo gave a toast to Oba Femi for having the longest reign with the NXT North American Championship. Both men will collide in the third and possibly final match for the title come October 27.
    • Nikkita Lyons is back inside the squared circle. The Lioness of NXT had a competitive match against Lola Vice. Jaida Parker caused a distraction for Ms. Vice due to their unfinished business. It seems Nikkita has a new finisher post-injury.
