Sting will remain a part of AEW for the foreseeable future, as the legend has announced that he signed a new deal with the company.

Sting revealed the news in an interview with Kayfabe Friends at the 58th Annual Cauliflower Alley Club Reunion.

“I signed a multi-year deal with AEW, obviously not to wrestle anymore, but it’s like a licensing deal, like a legends deal if you want to call it that,” he said. “So I’ll do appearances with them on and off, depending on what they want.

Sting also noted that he had done real estate before, such as flipping houses, so he was doing that again. He noted that he loved it.

This comes after Sting retired from the ring earlier in 2024. He competed in his last match at AEW Revolution in March. There, he and Darby Allin successfully defended the AEW World Tag Team Championship against the Young Bucks. He had been with AEW since December 2020.

Nick Wayne On Working With Sting

Sting worked with many young stars throughout his time in AEW. Nick Wayne discussed his experience working with “The Icon” while speaking with with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard .

“Yeah absolutely. Especially with like legends like Sting. First time I met Sting, I was like… I was blown away. Like you said, I was star struck you know? There’s a literal legend in front of my face. I met him pretty young, maybe 15 or 16 is when I first met Sting… But yeah, very, very star struck.

“And at the moment, Darby showed him like a highlight video between me versus Will Ospreay and he was like, he’s like, ‘I can’t believe you’re this young. You are unreal dude.’ And then continuing going on, when I started with AEW at 18. Getting to work with him from the jump was also a huge blessing.”
