GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two students at a Greensville County middle school reportedly took an “edible illegal substance” during the school day on Thursday.

According to a press release from Greensville County Public Schools, during the school day on May 2, administration at E.W. Wyatt Middle School was informed that two students had taken what was described as an “edible illegal substance.”

The nature of the edible drug, as well as how the two students were able to obtain it, was not shared by the school division.

“We have addressed the situation with the students involved,” the release reads. “Due to our legal obligation to maintain student confidentiality, we cannot share further details at this time. However, please know that the appropriate disciplinary action will be taken, per school division policy.”

Just a day after this incident, all of Greensville County Public Schools was placed on lockdown, according to two May 3 press releases . In those releases, the explanation given as to why the lockdowns were prompted is that there was a “potential safety threat.”

In addition, at the beginning of the next week, a round of ammunition was found in the bus loop of the nearby Greensville County High School. On May 7, both the high school and E. W. Wyatt Middle were put on lockdown as that situation was investigated.
