    PHOTOS: Loved ones of fallen service members release butterflies at Fort Gregg-Adams in remembrance

    PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Families and loved ones of fallen military service members released butterflies in their memory on Wednesday at Fort Gregg-Adams.

    On Wednesday, May 22, the Army Community Memorial Garden was full of those who have lost someone in the line of duty. In a special ceremony designed to honor the memory of the fallen, each family released a butterfly into the garden.

    Fort Gregg-Adams’ Survivor Outreach Services (SOS) hosts an event like this every year before Memorial Day as part of its ongoing efforts to support this important part of the military community.

    ‘We all need this’: Nonprofit group honors disabled veterans ahead of Memorial Day

    “[Survivor Outreach Services] provides long-term support to surviving Families of fallen Soldiers,” said SOS on its website . “Our goal is to reassure survivors that they remain valued members of the Army Family.”
