Henrico County Public Schools’ annual Back-to-School Kickoff to return in August

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Henrico County Public Schools (HCPS) is returning with its annual Back-to-School Kickoff, featuring family activities, a basketball tournament and a DJ.

Henrico County Public Schools’ annual Back-to-School Kickoff is set to take place on Friday, Aug. 9 at the Henrico Sports & Events Center, beginning at 8 a.m. and lasting until 7 p.m.

According to HCPS, attendees can expect the following activities at the Back-to-School Kickoff:

• Hoop It Up 3×3 student basketball tournament ( click here to register ) — 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• School and community resource fair — noon to 4 p.m.
• KidZone area and activities (including activities for students with special needs) — noon to 5:30 p.m.
• Pep rally celebration — 12:30 p.m.
• Live music from a DJ
• Food and drinks from the concession stand
• An immunization clinic (will offer vaccines for rising seventh and 12th graders, click here for more information )
• Free books for students of all ages
• Free school supplies
• Opportunities for families to meet and talk to HCPS representatives and school leaders
