    Races rescheduled at Colonial Downs due to possible impact of Tropical Storm Debby

    NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Colonial Downs Racetrack in New Kent County will reschedule live racing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday due to the possible impact of Tropical Storm Debby .

    On Tuesday, Aug. 6, Colonial Downs Racetrack announced it will reschedule live racing on Thursday, Aug. 8 to Monday, Aug. 12, and Friday, Aug. 9 to Tuesday, Aug. 13.

    The next day, on Wednesday, Aug. 7, Colonial Downs Racetrack announced that the Festival of Racing, originally scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 10, has been rescheduled for Sunday, Aug. 11.

    According to a spokesperson for the event, the decision to reschedule these events was made in consideration of the possible impact caused by Tropical Storm Debby leading to adverse racing conditions and safety concerns.

    How will Tropical Storm Debby affect Virginia?

    Gates for the Festival of Racing on Sunday will open at 11:30 a.m., with the first post at 1 p.m. Stakes start in Race 6 with three graded stakes starting at Race 9.
