    Caroline County residents can dispose of debris for free due to Storm Debris Emergency declaration

    CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Following a reported tornado , heavy rains and damaging winds in Caroline County Thursday night due to Tropical Storm Debby, which has since downgraded to a tropical depression, residents will be able to dispose of storm debris for free.

    According to a post to Facebook by Caroline County , the county has declared a Storm Debris Emergency due to the “significant” amount of debris.

    This declaration will allow residents in the county as well as contractors to dispose of storm debris for free at the Bowling Green Solid Waste Convenience Site during regular business hours.

    Storm debris consists of trees, branches, brush and leaves. Stumps will not be accepted, according to the county.

    Free disposal of storm debris will accepted through Aug. 25.

    The site will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. It will be closed on Wednesday, and open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, the site will be open from 1 to 5 p.m.
