Richmond baker featured on Netflix competition show

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Richmond baker was recently featured on a baking competition show on Netflix.

Kim Thompson, the owner of Kimmy Kakes RVA , was featured in the new season of Blue Ribbon Baking Championship.

“I never thought in a million years that this would happen,” Thompson said.

Thompson competed for a chance to win $100,000 alongside nine other talented pastry chefs from across the country.

“[It was] just lots of passionate bakers that pretty much represent their states and where they’re from, and they came and they put their hearts out, definitely out there in the kitchen to produce wonderful baked goods for Sandra Lee and all the other judges,” Thompson said.

She also shared an uplifting message to others with similar aspirations.

“If you have any type of dream or just any goal, no matter what age you are, when you start, just start it,” Thompson said. “Whatever’s in your heart and your passion, just do it. Just do it. Don’t be scared to just take that leap and that jump and just do it. Because if it’s meant for you, it will be.”

The new season of Blue Ribbon Baking Championship is now streaming on Netflix.
