HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The next rabies vaccination clinic to be hosted by the Henrico County Police Division is taking place this Saturday.

On Saturday, Aug. 17, cat and dog owners from any locality may bring their pets to the Henrico County Western Government Complex, located at 4301 E. Parham Road, to be vaccinated for rabies.

Virginia law dictates that any dog or cat that is four months of age or older must be vaccinated for rabies.

The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Each vaccine costs $20 and only cash is accepted.

Those interested will need to register and pay at the cashier’s office in the Administration Building, then see the veterinarian on the first level of the adjacent parking deck.

If you are bringing a cat to be vaccinated, it must be in a carrier. If you are bringing a dog, you may consider picking up a Henrico dog license while at the clinic. They are $10 and are valid for the dog’s life as long as the owner lives in Henrico and its rabies vaccinations are current.

All vaccinated pets will receive a rabies tag and a certificate of inoculation.

Those with questions about vaccine and license requirements can ask officers on-site for details.
