    Apartment building in Hanover damaged by fire Sunday

    HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — An apartment building in Hanover County near the Henrico County line was damaged on Sunday afternoon by a fire.

    According to the Hanover County Fire and EMS Department, the fire took place at around 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18 at a three-story apartment building on the 10200 block of Lakeridge Square Court, near the intersection of Route 1 and Sliding Hill Road.

    Twelve units responded to the scene and they had the fire under control at around 3:48 p.m., all of the building’s residents got out of the building safely, along with their pets. The Metro Richmond Flying Squad assisted the Hanover firefighters at the scene.

    The cause of the fire is being investigated and the building’s displaced residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
