    Nearly 4,500 buildings were without power across Richmond area after Monday storm

    RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Nearly 4,500 buildings across the Richmond area were without power due to a severe thunderstorm Monday afternoon.

    According to Dominion Energy’s Outage Map, the following localities experienced power outages as of 11:15 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19:

    • Henrico County: 2,438 outages
    • New Kent County: 1,055 outages
    • Chesterfield County: 286 outages
    • Charles City County: 177 outages
    • City of Richmond: 152 outages
    • Goochland County: 112 outages
    • Hanover County: 88 outages
    • King and Queen County: 24 outages
    • Prince Edward County: 14 outages
    • Prince George County: 1 outage

    According to Dominion, as of 11:15 p.m., a total of 4,497 buildings serviced by the company were without power across Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. Most of those outages are in the Richmond area.

    At the height of the outage, over 12,000 Richmond-area buildings were impacted.
