Hopewell man arrested after man found with gunshot wound to mouth

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — A Hopewell man is facing charges in connection to an early August incident in which a man was found with a gunshot wound to the mouth.

On the evening of Sunday, Aug. 4, officers with the Hopewell Police Department found a man with a gunshot wound to the mouth on the 200 block of South 8th Avenue.

On Monday, Aug. 15, 47-year-old Marlone Ramone Peterson of Hopewell was arrested and charged in connection to the incident. According to police, he faces two charges — felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony discharging a firearm in a public place.

A police spokesperson told 8News the department would not provide any other details on this incident, which remains under active investigation.
