CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Chesterfield County 10th-grader and young advocate stood before a national audience at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night.

Joshua Davis of Clover Hill High School led the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in the pledge of allegiance on Tuesday, Aug. 20. This began day two of programming at the DNC, which is ongoing in Chicago from Aug. 19 to Aug. 22.

“Joshua was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) when he was 11 months old and has advocated for issues important to the T1D community ever since as a volunteer with Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF),” said Chesterfield County Public Schools in a press release prior to Tuesday’s programming. “We are thrilled that his advocacy has put him on this national stage, as he continues to raise awareness about this autoimmune disease.”
