    Fluvanna County Middle School opens 2 hours late after threats made on social media

    FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two boys reportedly made threats over social media against Fluvanna County Middle School, causing school to open on a two-hour delay on Wednesday according to the the school system.

    In the late evening on Tuesday, Aug. 20, the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office received multiple reports of a threat made over social media against Fluvanna County Middle School.

    It was reported that during a voice call between multiple students, two boys joined joined the call and made threats to “shoot” and/or “blow up” the middle school, according to the sheriff’s office.

    Students on the call reported this to their parents who then notified the sheriff’s office.

    After an investigation, the sheriff’s office identified the two boys who are believed to have made the threats. Officials say the two boys live in a different state.

    Officials say that the threats made “no longer appear viable.” An increased presence of officers will be at schools in the county on Wednesday, Aug. 21, and students will head in on a two-hour delay.

    The sheriff’s office said the boys’ names will not be released due to their age.

    Officials continue to investigate.
