    30-year-old New Kent motorcyclist dead after crashing into Richmond power pole

    RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A 30-year-old New Kent County man is dead after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a power pole in Richmond on Wednesday.

    Just before 1:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 30-year-old Merquan Robinson of the Quinton area of New Kent County was riding his motorcycle westbound in the 2200 Semmes Avenue when he lost control of his motorcycle .

    According to the Richmond Police Department, he hit a power pole in the median of the roadway and then crashed in the westbound lanes. Robinson died at the scene.

    The Richmond Police Department’s Crash Team continues to investigate this incident. Semmes Avenue in the area of the crash was previously closed in both directions as investigators worked the scene, but has since been reopened.
