Traveling American Revolution exhibit stopping in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield County will host a traveling American Revolution exhibit at its Central Library in September.

The exhibit, called “The American Revolution Experience,” is a collaborative project between the American Battlefield Trust and the Daughters of the American Revolution and highlights the experiences of ordinary Americans before and during the Revolutionary War.

“We are excited to partner with our local Daughters of the American Revolution chapters and the American Battlefield Trust in hosting this exhibit,” stated Kim Conley, Chesterfield County’s Director of Community Engagement and Resources . “Many significant battles were fought in Chesterfield County during the American Revolution and the Chesterfield Continental Training Barracks, established in 1781, was known as the Valley Forge of the South.”

The exhibit will open at Chesterfield’s Central Library, located at 7501 Lucy Corr Boulevard, at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9 and will close on Saturday, Sept. 21. The library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

In addition to the exhibit, Chesterfield Public Library is hosting two workshops to help residents trace their ancestors back to the Revolutionary War. More information about all of the events hosted by the county’s library system can be found here .
