    New half-day preschool opening in Powhatan County

    POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Powhatan County Economic Development has announced the opening of Ivybrook Academy at Winterfield, a new half-day preschool in the soon to open in the county.

    Owners, Alisa and Brad McKeiver, are bringing Ivybrook Academy at Winterfield to Powhatan County. The new school is located at 430 Winter Place Way, near Huguenot Trail and Winterfield Road in the Winterfield Place II development.

    Ivybrook Academy is a private half-day preschool that serves children between the ages of 18 months to 5 years old from 8:30 a.m. to noon. In addition, summer camps will be available to students and younger children as well.

    According to Powhatan County Economic Development, Ivybrook Academy uses integrated curriculum inspired by Reggio Emilia and Montessori teaching philosophies. The academy prides itself on being a school that believes that children’s voices should be heard and and have their ideas honored through a discovery-based and multiple sensory approach.

    Ivybrook Academy was established in North Carolina in 2007, this location will be the first in Virginia.
