Richmond, Va. (WRIC) –Virginia quarterback Anthony Colandrea led his team to a 34-13 victory over the University of Richmond on Saturday night, throwing for 297 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Cavaliers bounced back from a disappointing season opener last year, where a weather delay led to a loss. This time, although the game faced a weather delay, Virginia quickly scored another touchdown when play resumed and controlled the game from then on.

Richmond struggled against Virginia’s defense. Their quarterback, Kyle Wickersham, scored a 5-yard touchdown run but only managed 110 yards passing.

Looking ahead, Virginia will take on Wake Forest and Maryland. Colandrea showed growth and good decision-making, and the offense spread the ball around well, with nine players catching passes and Trell Harris scoring the first touchdown.
