    Hanover County Schools to have increased law enforcement after Georgia school shooting

    HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Hanover County Schools will have increased law enforcement presence following the school shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia .

    According to the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office , residents may notice an increased presence of law enforcement at Hanover County Schools “in the coming days” following the school shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

    The Sheriff’s Office says the increased presence of law enforcement is a proactive measure and is not in response to any specific threat to the Hanover County area.

    “This is a proactive measure as we continue to monitor the situation and gather more information about the circumstances surrounding the event,” the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office said in its statement. “We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work together to keep Hanover County safe.”
