    Driver injured in Powhatan County hit-and-run

    POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia State Police is seeking the public’s assistance in finding a silver SUV involved in a hit-and-run crash on Anderson Highway in Powhatan County.

    At around 7:20 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1, a 2003 Ford Ranger was about to make a right turn into a driveway westbound on Anderson Highway, near Academy Road, when it was hit in the back by a silver SUV.

    According to state police, after being hit, the Ranger then struck the guidewire to a power pole, overturned and hit several trees. The driver of the Ranger was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Officials said a dog from the vehicle is still missing.

    Police said the driver of the silver SUV left the scene and continued driving westbound on Anderson Highway. The suspect vehicle may have significant front-end damage on the passenger side, according to authorities.
