KING GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — An unclaimed Powerball ticket that was purchased in King George County and won $50,000 in March will soon expire.

According to Virginia Lottery, no one has claimed the ticket yet that won $50,000 in the drawing on March 16.

By law, winning tickets in Virginia expire 180 days after the drawing, which means that the ticket will become worthless at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Virginia Lottery says the ticket was bought at a 7-Eleven located at 10520 James Madison parkway in King George.

The winning number for the drawing was 12-23-44-57-61, and the Powerball number was 5. This ticket matched four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball number.

Unclaimed prizes, by law, go to Virginia’s Literary Fund, which gives low-interest loans to localities for public school construction, renovations and technology upgrades, according to Virginia Lottery.

Whoever has the winning ticket should contact the Virginia Lottery immediately. The Lottery has eight customer service centers across Virginia where the ticket can be redeemed. For a list of locations, visit Virginia Lottery’s website .
