    Henrico police shares new details on Staples Mill Road pedestrian crash involving teen

    HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Henrico County Police Division has provided new details on the deadly pedestrian crash that occurred Sunday night on Staples Mill Road involving a teen .

    At 8:06 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 8, Henrico Police responded to a reported crash involving a pedestrian on Staples Mill Road near Hungary Spring Road.

    According to police, officers arrived on the scene and found a 15-year-old boy with “obvious signs of trauma.” The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Police said the crash investigation determined that the teen was crossing Staples Mill Road mid-block and was hit by a Nissan car traveling westbound. The driver of the Nissan stayed on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation team.

    “Investigators are looking into what may have caused this crash, however alcohol does not appear to be a factor,” a release from Henrico Police reads.
