Overturned truck shuts down New Kent County roadway

NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — An overturned truck has shut down a New Kent County roadway Tuesday afternoon.

According to the New Kent County Sheriff’s Office, westbound Pocahontas Trail at Old Telegraph Road and Warburton Haven is closed as of about 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, due to a crash.

A photo from the scene shows that the crash involved what appears to be a truck turned onto its side.

Westbound traffic is being turned around at the west end of Old Telegraph Road, then directed east on Pocahontas Trail. Eastbound Pocahontas Trail remains open to all traffic.

“The road will be closed for an undetermined amount of time,” the sheriff’s office said. “Please avoid the area or take an alternate route if possible. We will [advise] when the roadway is back open.”
