    31-year-old man charged with June 2nd-degree murder, abduction in Petersburg

    PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, among other charges, in connection to a late June homicide .

    The Petersburg Bureau of Police has been investigating a homicide that took place on Sunday, June 23, in the 400 block of Roundtop Avenue. No victim information has been provided.

    On Tuesday, Sept. 10, 31-year-old Stacey Ward was taken into custody in Chesterfield County with the help of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

    According to police, he has been charged with second-degree murder, abduction, burglary, possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and possessing a firearm in the commission of a felony. Additionally, he was served on a warrant for failure to appear.

    Ward is being held pending his court appearance.
