Sanctuary, roof of Henrico church severely damaged by late-night fire

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A church in Henrico County was severely damaged by a fire Wednesday night, with the flames leaving a hole in its roof.

The night of Wednesday, Sept. 11, fire crews with the Henrico County Division of Fire responded to a church located at 1200 N. Parham Rd. for report of a commercial structure fire.

Firefighters arrived at the scene around 9:24 p.m. and began battling the fire, which reportedly damaged both the church’s roof and its sanctuary.

Fire officials at the scene told 8News this church is Colonial Place Christian Church.

Photos taken by 8News crews show a visible hole burned in the roof of the structure.

As of the time of reporting, N. Parham Road in front of the church is closed in both directions as first responders work the scene. According to fire officials, it will remain closed for quite some time.

No one was inside of the church at the time of the fire and no injuries have been reported. According to fire officials, what caused the fire remains under investigation.
