    Randolph-Macon wins home opener 14-7 in Overtime Against Hobart

    RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The No. 8 Randolph-Macon football team earned a 14-7 overtime victory over Hobart in their home opener at Day Field.

    The game was scoreless through the first quarter. In the second quarter, Hobart took a 7-0 lead after Randolph-Macon made a mistake on a punt. Randolph-Macon responded with a 75-yard drive, ending with a 31-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Dante Casciola to junior Jason Moore, tying the game at 7-7.

    In the third quarter, Randolph-Macon’s defense kept Hobart from scoring. The Yellow Jackets had a long drive but were stopped just short of the end zone. The game remained tied as the fourth quarter began.

    In the fourth quarter, Hobart had a chance to win but missed a field goal as time ran out, sending the game into overtime.

    In overtime, Hobart chose to play defense first. Randolph-Macon’s senior running back Kwesi Clarke made key runs, but the drive came down to a crucial play on 4th-and-2. Casciola threw a touchdown pass to junior tight end Landon Farriss, giving Randolph-Macon a 14-7 lead.

    Hobart’s final drive in overtime ended with a fumble that was recovered by Randolph-Macon’s sophomore safety Quentin Mankin, sealing the win for the Yellow Jackets.

    With this win, Randolph-Macon remains undefeated at 2-0 for the season.
