18-year-old charged with second-degree murder after 30-year-old found dead in Henrico yard

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — An 18-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder after a 30-year-old man was found dead in a Henrico County yard Sunday morning, according to police.

The Henrico County Police Division has identified the victim as 30-year-old James Lawitz of Henrico County.

At 11:36 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, Henrico Police officers responded to the 100 block of South Cedar Avenue for a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they found Lawitz dead in the side yard of a home.

Police said 18-year-old Troy Vincent Charran Jr. of Henrico County has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. R. Breeden at 804-501-5243.
