RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Stormtracker 8 Meteorologists Matt DiNardo and Jacqueline Waters sat down in the WRIC NOW livestreaming studio Monday to talk about Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight and the rain to come.

September has been a pretty dry month for Richmond, but that is expected to change this week as DiNardo and Waters discuss something they have been watching off the coast.

“It’s getting closer and closer to North Carolina, even South Carolina — some of those beaches — we’re starting to see some of those impacts. [It’s] still Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight and still has that chance possibly of developing, but whether it’s going to develop or not into a tropical system, it’s going to bring us rain, which is good.” Waters said.

Due to the speed, path and strength of the storm, Richmond won’t see the same flood potential that North Carolina might.

“One of the things we’re looking at for North Carolina would be the potential for flooding — for us, it’s going to be some good rain but it’s not like we’re talking about crazy buckets day in and day out,” DiNardo said.
