CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged with distribution of meth in Caroline County after the sheriff’s office carried out an undercover drug investigation.

According to the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office, 35-year-old Charles James Cousins III of Martinsville was arrested for distribution of methamphetamine in Caroline County.

Officials said investigators reported that Cousins recently came to Caroline from Martinsville and was believed to have been living in hotel rooms in the Carmel Church area.

On Sept. 12, narcotics investigators pulled over Cousins’ vehicle, after which he was taken into custody for four outstanding warrants and charged with distribution of meth.

After Cousins was taken into custody, officers searched the vehicle he was driving and found $1,200 worth of suspected meth, five pills that are believed to be fentanyl and a “large amount” of various other pills. The sheriff’s office said the pills will be identified by the Virginia Department of Forensic Science.

As a result of the vehicle search, the sheriff’s office said additional charges of possessing meth with the intent to distribute and possession of fentanyl were placed against Cousins. He is currently being held at the Pamunkey Regional Jail without bond.
