CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Parents in Chesterfield County are on high alert after another threat at a school.

According to the Chesterfield County Police Department, a fifth grade student at Clover Hill Elementary School shared a list of two students they threatened to kill on Friday, Sept. 13, prompting an investigation.

The message was shared with families of students in the student’s class on Friday, according to a Chesterfield County Public Schools spokesperson. Authorities determined the student had no access to weapons or means to carry out the threat and no charges were filed.

Friday’s incident marked the fourth time a Chesterfield school has been threatened so far in September. Kassi Thomas, the parent of a student at Clover Hill, said having that conversation with her child about the situation wasn’t easy.

“No parent wants to think about sending their kids to school and having to worry about their safety,” Thomas said. “You obviously want your child to be safe in the environment that you put them in.”

Kate Cremer, another Clover Hill parent who said she received an email about the incident on Sunday, felt like the school district lacked transparency.

“There should just be channels that are easier to navigate when something like this happens,” Cremer said. “You can’t make an informed decision as a parent when you haven’t been given any information.”

Ashley Patteson, another Clover Hill parent, said she reached out to the school for more clarity but hasn’t heard back yet.

“It’s just a scary situation, when it’s happening in your backyard and at your child’s school,” Patteson said. “You don’t know if they’re being protected.”

8News has reached out to Chesterfield Public Schools about whether the student would be punished or when they would return to class, the school district has not yet responded.
