    32-year-old arrested in Chesterfield after male shot in Petersburg

    PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — A man was arrested in Chesterfield County in connection to a Saturday night shooting in Petersburg.

    Just after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, officers with the Petersburg Bureau of Police were called to the 1700 block of S. Sycamore Street for report of a person shot.

    When they arrived, officers found a male victim with a gunshot wound. According to police, he was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not considered life-threatening.

    Investigators identified 32-year-old Jordan Chancellor Whipple as a suspect. According to police, Petersburg detectives worked with officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department to arrest Whipple in Chesterfield County.

    Newport News 13-year-old charged after threats against E. W. Wyatt Middle in Greensville

    Whipple was charged with aggravated assault and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently being held without bond.
