ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Albemarle County Fire Rescue responded to a house fire on East Main Street in Scottsville.

At 10:55 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 20, Albemarle County Fire rescue units received a call regarding a reported house fire in the 300 block of East Main Street in Scottsville.

According to the fire department, the first crew arrived on the scene eight minutes after being dispatched.

There was one adult, two kids and five pets at home during the time of the fire — all of the residents were evacuated safely from the house with no injuries.

The fire department confirmed that the occupants of the home, including another adult who was not home at the time of the fire, are being helped by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated by Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s Office. However, the department believes the fire possibly may have started by discarding smoking debris.
