    Boy fighting for his life after shooting in Richmond’s East End

    RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A boy is fighting for his life after police said he was shot in Richmond’s East End Tuesday evening.

    At 11:12 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, officers with the Richmond Police Department responded to the 2100 block of Newbourne Street for the report of a shooting.

    When officers arrived, they found a boy with an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

    In an update shared by police during the evening on Wednesday, Sept. 25, officials said the juvenile victim is an 11-year-old boy.

    Police also said that a man has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

    Police continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call Major Crimes Detective S. Brown at 804-646-6456.

    I'm going to have faith on the first thing you said. I hope n pray right now God save this child the way you see fit but I pray that you heal him or her that You n their love ones would want in Jesus n Jehovah name Amen.

    I just pray this ends. All these shootings are overwhelming. I hope this young person pulls through.
