PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A mid-September diesel fuel spill in Prince George County will take at least another month to clean up, according to the county.

On Wednesday, Sept. 18, a tractor-trailer spilled diesel fuel on Golf Course Drive between Hines and Reeds roads.

This resulted in several immediate, temporary road closures as the scene was assessed.

Then, starting on Thursday, Sept. 19, intermittent single-lane closures were put in place as clean-up efforts continued. At that time, county officials announced that the process would extend through the weekend and into the next week.

On Wednesday, Sept. 25, county officials released an update stating that drivers should expect continued delays throughout the next 30 days — weather permitting — as crews continue to clean the area.

“We appreciate the patience of residents during this time,” the county said.

The affected area at Golf Course Drive is shown below.

Updates will be provided through both the county’s Facebook page and its website as this situation progresses.
