47-year-old cyclist hit, killed on Route 1 in Chesterfield County

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A 47-year-old man is dead after he was hit by a Jeep Wrangler while riding his bicycle on Route 1 in Chesterfield County Thursday morning.

At 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department responded to a reported crash in which a 2009 Jeep Wrangler hit a bicylist.

Police said that at the time of the crash, the Jeep and bicyclist were both heading north on Route 1.

The driver of the Jeep stayed on the scene. Police identified the cyclist as 47-year-old Allen D. Wood, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police continue to investigate the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 804-748-1251.
