Man found dead with gunshot wound in yard in Richmond’s Southside

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A man was found lying dead in the front yard of a building in Richmond’s Southside Thursday morning, according to police.

According to the Richmond Police Department, at 7:12 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, officers were called to the 200 block of Richmond Highway for the report of a person down.

When officers arrived, they found a man lying unresponsive in the front yard of a “structure,” police said.

Officials said he had a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, according to police.
